Laboratory of Mind-Matter Interaction
with Therapeutic Intention

Clinical research unit for the study of the influence the mind field in a therapeutic setting

LIMMIT  is an innovative neuroscience laboratory in Portugal whose main goal is to pursue a translational model of consciousness, by addressing the mind-matter interaction, its clinical/practical applications and the study of traits and states of consciousness.
It addresses a full descriptive systematic model of characterization of states and traits of consciousness pathways, through natural or induced set and settings, by developing innovative research in applied contemplative neuroscience, with non-invasive methodologies.
The Laboratory is placed within the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, in one of the main buildings of the Santa Maria Hospital, which provides a close connection and relation to the academic and clinical contexts. This interdisciplinary approach allows different research designs, from fixed randomized controlled clinical trials to flexible grounded theory studies.
This interdisciplinary model comprises the association from basic research studies in biophysics, neuropsychophysiology and molecular biomarkers (genomics/proteomics/metabolomics) to more clinical research studies focusing on hypnosis, meditation, clinical intention, enhanced placebo effect and entheogens.
