LIMMIT Lab is an innovative neuroscience laboratory in Portugal, whose main objective is to seek a translational model of consciousness, addressing mind-matter interaction, its clinical / practical applications and the study of characteristics and states of consciousness.
The Laboratory is located at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, in one of the main buildings of Hospital Santa Maria, which provides a close connection and relationship with the academic and clinical contexts.
During the six years of its operation, it was, above all, a welcoming space for projects and people, who did not obtain support elsewhere. It has always worked on a voluntary basis for its collaborators. These obtained three research grants from the Bial Foundation.
Several partnerships led to the organisation of six postgraduate courses, in the country and abroad, as well as Symposiums and Congresses.
It inspired eighteen projects leading to a PhD and already approved by the respective scientific councils. LIMMIT Lab's Director, Prof. Dr. Mário Simões is an supervisor or co-supervisor in ten of them. In this work in six years, three PhD thesis were completed and the authors received their PhD. Eighteen dissertations leading to the Integrated Masters in Medicine, in FMUL, were accepted and completed at LIMMIT.
Ninety-seven communications, fifty-five conferences, eight Posters, eleven Workshops were presented.
During the six-year period, twenty-two publications took place in scientific journals or book chapters, with five being published (already accepted) and one submitted.
It has been above all a think tank and space for hosting new and innovative perspectives on Mind-Matter interaction.
