In 2012, by proposal of Prof. Doctor Mário Simões, prepared with the collaboration of Prof. Doctor Maria de Sousa, the Board of Directors and Scientific Council of the Bial Foundation, approves an ad hoc scientific research grant for the installation of a scientific research laboratory. This should, preferably, be dedicated to areas that the Foundation has been supporting, namely psychophysiology and parapsychology.
In the same year, the Scientific Council of the FMUL, by proposal of its Director, Prof. Doctor Fernandes and Fernandes and Prof. Dr. Mário Simões approves its installation in an FMUL space, which only happened in February 2014 and located on the 3rd floor, next to the Amphitheater Celestino da Costa.
The official inauguration took place on 8 May 2015, with the presence of the President of the Bial Foundation, Dr. Luís Portela, Director of the FMUL, Prof. Doctor Fernandes and Fernandes and the Executive Director, Mestre Luís Pereira, FMUL faculty, representatives of LIMMIT partnerships and laboratory collaborators. Since then, the Laboratory has been operating regularly, as described in this activity report.
