Positive Life Trajectory: Integrating Positive Psychology and Hypnosis
World Congress on Positive Psychology, 25-28 June 2015, Miami

“Positive Life Trajectory” is supported in a clinical model created by a group of Portuguese and Brazilian researchers, specialists in psychology, psychiatry and neuroscience. It is part of an individual brief psychotherapy approach, and a pioneer in linking clinical hypnosis with the assumptions of Positive Psychology. It includes 8 sessions, aligned with 8 specific protocols. Apart from the psychotherapeutic implementation, the model was also adapted to community and coaching interventions.
The aims of this workshop are to present, in a practical way, samples of the protocol of each of the 8 sessions: 1. Joyous Path (optimism), 2.The Future is Now (hope); 3.Recycling the Past (cognitive restructuring); 4. “The Body Speaks” (nonverbal communication) 5.Resilience; 6. Forgiveness and Gratitude; 7. Metamorphosis (positive/negative resonance); and 8. Positive Resignification of Life (flow, meaning and vocation).
This psychotherapeutic model has been used so far with populations as diverse as women with domestic violence, stressed workers, infertile women, elderly, and school children, involving more than 1200 persons in Portugal and Brazil. It has shown promising results and is currently being validated with biological markers and self report instruments, at the Medicine Department and the School of Social and Political Sciences from Lisbon University
