Ricardo Maximiano is a PhD student of Biomedical Engineering in the Faculty of Sciences - University of Lisbon, PT, and he received his Masters of Biomedical Engineering in Instituto Superior Técnico – University of Lisbon. Since 2012, he has been working as researcher in Institute of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering (IBEB) and his works are focused on the recognition and classification of patterns in biomedical signals and images, such as EEG and fMRI. His PhD’s goal is to understand the changes of the brain connectivity when using specific but noninvasive devices such as Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI) and transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS).
Areas of expertise
Brain-computer interfaces, direct current stimulation, brain connectivity, data mining, recognition and classification of patterns.
